Celer Partners with AltLayer as Part of Their Interoperability Layer

2 min read

Celer is excited to be partnering with AltLayer, an open and decentralized interlayer for rollups, as part of the interoperability layer on their rollup stack. This partnership will enable anyone deploying a rollup chain through AltLayer to have built-in support for multiple cross-chain use cases and enables any developers building on that rollup to take advantage of Celer’s wide breadth of available technologies! This exciting development marks a significant milestone in our strategic partnership with AltLayer and represents a major step forward in achieving seamless interoperability across more blockchain ecosystems!

There are several use cases that could interest developers:

Fungible Token Bridging

By following our canonical mapping transfer, or xAsset model, we provide the ability to bridge tokens cross-chain for multiple scenarios:

  • A rollup chain-native ERC-20 token transferring from the rollup chain to any other supported chain.
  • A “primary-chain” native token transferring from a “primary chain” to the rollup chain.
  • A rollup chain-native gas token migrating from ERC-20 on a “primary chain” to the rollup chain.
  • And more!

Non-fungible Token (NFT) Bridging

Celer’s bridging technology allows for two main types of NFT bridging. The first is the more traditional pegged NFT Bridge. This applies to existing NFTs that have an origin chain. The bridge works by creating a “copy” of the original NFT that is pegged to the original NFT and follows the “lock-and-mint”, “burn-and-release”, and “burn-and-mint” patterns.

The second type of bridging support is for the multi-chain native (MCN) NFT. Since this style of NFT does not have the notion of an “origin chain” or “original NFT”, when transferring an MCN NFT from chain A to chain B, the only pattern is “Burn-and-Mint” where the NFT is burned on chain A and then minted on chain B, so that there is always only one NFT across all chains.

Generic Message Passing

Additionally, with Celer’s Inter-chain Messaging Framework working as a generic message passing feature, it enables developers to build dApps on the rollup with seamless cross-chain application logic. dApps are not only able to create smooth cross-chain UXs across the various chains, but can support features like the ability to purchase and bid on NFTs across different chains or to build omnichain metaverse games. These and more are not only possible to accomplish with Celer IM, but can be offered to users as a single-click, single-transaction UX.

About AltLayer

Founded in 2021, AltLayer builds the infrastructure that enables developers to launch highly modular application-tailored rollups. The AltLayer protocol consists of a core network – the ‘Beacon Layer’ – which serves as a common sequencing, execution, and verification network for all rollups.

Built atop this protocol, AltLayer also offers a no-code Rollups-as-a-Service (RaaS) launchpad that allows anyone to spin up a customized rollup within 2 minutes with only a few simple clicks. The RaaS launchpad is designed for a multi-chain and a multi-VM world. It supports different rollup SDKs such as OP Stack, Arbitrum Orbit, Linea, Polygon zkEVM CDK, and Starkware among others.

Industries spanning the NFT sector, Web3 gaming, DeFi, real-world asset tokenization, and others leverage these rollups to scale their applications. AltLayer can help save considerable capital, reduce years of development work for teams, encourage innovation, and fast-track experimentation while being fully open and permissionless.

Inspired by modularity, AltLayer aims to facilitate a world with hundreds of thousands of customizable rollups across Web3 with our solutions.
