X Layer Now Supports Celer IM and Bridging uniETH Via cBridge

2 min read

With our recent support of cross-chain restaking using Bedrock’s uniETH token, there has been interest in adding additional support for uniETH to help provide holders with even more utility! That’s why we’re excited to announce that cBridge now supports the bridging of uniETH to X Layer, a ZK-powered decentralized Ethereum Layer 2 network. This is our first bridging integration with OKX’s X Layer mainnet, initially starting with uniETH bridging support to and from the Ethereum mainnet. Moreover, X Layer has integrated with Celer’s Inter-chain Messaging Framework, which opens up a ton of interoperability options for the future.

X Layer is a ZK-powered decentralized Ethereum Layer 2 network that merges the OKX and Ethereum communities—offering a secure and user-friendly blockchain experience. It leverages advanced cryptographic ZK proofs for validity and near-instant finality of off-chain transaction computations. By connecting the OKX and Polygon ecosystems, X Layer enhances user experience, fosters innovation, and boosts optics developers. Its Ethereum compatibility ensures seamless integration of existing smart contracts and tools, with low-cost transactions and high performance. X Layer prioritizes scalability, data availability, and security, inheriting Ethereum’s robustness while providing unified liquidity and extremely fast finality. With seamless OKX product integrations and access to millions of users, X Layer serves as a portal to the vibrant world of Web3.

By working with X Layer, Celer is supporting uniETH bridging initially via the xAsset model, a lock-and-mint method, for token transfers between the Ethereum Mainnet and X Layer. This pegged 1:1 bridge will allow uniETH holders on Ethereum to utilize their tokens on X Layer, giving them more utility than ever before!

On top of the uniETH bridging support, X Layer and Celer have worked together to integrate Celer’s Inter-chain Messaging Framework, a generic message passing protocol, into X Layer’s tech stack in order to seamlessly enable developers to build dApps with cross-chain application logics. This would enable dApps to not only create smooth cross-chain UXs between X Layer and various external blockchains, but would lay down the foundation to support NFT bridges, the ability to purchase and bid on NFTs across different chains, and cross-chain reward claiming. All of these and more are not only possible to accomplish with Celer IM, but can be offered to users as a single-click, single-transaction UX.

We’re excited to be working with X Layer and plan on continuing to expand our interoperability efforts to support additional tokens and chains. The possibilities are endless, and we invite you to join us as Celer and X Layer help shape the future of interchain connectivity!

About X Layer

OKX’s X Layer network launched its public mainnet on April 16. The network is designed to provide users and developers with access to some of the world’s largest blockchain ecosystems. By utilizing ZK proofs, X Layer ensures high security and scalability while significantly reducing transaction costs.

About Bedrock

Bedrock is a pioneering liquid staking and restaking protocol where it started with uniETH, its proprietary institutional-grade liquid staking token on Ethereum, and later expanded to become the first liquid staking protocol on the IoTeX network. It has captured a cumulative TVL of over $170M to date. With its cutting-edge technology, Bedrock has upgraded its LST to LRT in 2024, and brings about institutional-grade infrastructure to the masses while ensuring security and transparency to accommodate the needs of larger clients and institutions.

About Celer Network

Celer is a blockchain interoperability protocol enabling a one-click user experience accessing tokens, DeFi, GameFi, NFTs, governance, privacy solutions and more across multiple chains. Developers can build inter-chain-native dApps using the Celer Inter-chain Message SDK to gain access to efficient liquidity utilization, coherent application logic, and shared states. Users of Celer-enabled dApps will enjoy the benefits of a diverse multi-blockchain ecosystem with the simplicity of a single-transaction UX, all from a single chain.
